Seriously considering a move up from Arizona, my wife is a nurse and we recently visited, stayed in Vallejo (not to bad, a little congested) we really like the area.

We're pretty frugal with no expensive hobbies. I would like to see about 2000 sq/ft in a house with a descent yard for gardening.I was/am looking at Benicia/Martinez, Concord, Fairfield(green valley)

I'm not that picky, but I don't want gang activity as I may have to "Go-Rambo" and I don't wanna do prison time! ;-)

We have 2 kids 6 and 10 and a newborn!! Thanks much !!

If you like Vallejo, I would look there. You'll get more for your money.

Concord won't be that great at that budget, honestly, but you should check out Green Valley/Fairfield for sure. Or American Canyon between Vallejo and Napa, on the way to Fairfield. Nice community!

Thanks people, After casually browsing some listings It seems there are some very nice houses the $250-300,00 range in Fairfield. Why does everyone say you need $600,000 here?? , I guess they have higher expectations which is fine.

I also wonder if waiting another year would not be the wise choice, the $8500.00 tax incentive boosted sales a bit but I think the market is still falling here, any thoughts??

Vallejo is a sh*thole. Parts on the East side of I80 are okay, but anything on the West Side is just a hood filled with gang members, illegals, and drug dealers. If you move to Vallejo, be prepared to be armed, and don't eat at a restaurant late at night (drive by shootings). Also keep in mind that Vallejo is bankrupt, so if you are shot and need assistance, the police can only be contacted by e-mail (I kid you not). I'd honestly rather move to Fallujah, Iraq than Vallejo.

Concord is okay, Benicia is great. Pick one of those.

Although Solano County is not considered one of the better counties, I will suggest Fairfield.
You could probably get a nice place for $200k right now.
