My husband wants to get into the funeral/cremation industry and went to a training here in NJ. A lot of the people were from SF and told him that the cremation industry is big in SF and referred to as "The city of the dead".

Are there really that many crematories, funeral, and death related work in SF?

It is illegal to operate a cemetery in San Francisco itself. However, when they evicted all their cemeteries to reclaim the land, they all got moved to a nearby town called Colma. As a result, the dead population in Colma vastly outnumbers the living population. In 2.2 square miles there are 18 cemeteries.

Colma was actually founded as a necropolis in 1924. The dead population outnumbers the living thousands to one.

I remember an area of Colma that had a cemetary right next door to a self storage facility. They both had huge signs on the road. At a certain point of the road the signs lined up and it looked like;
Self Storage $15 a Month/-------Cemetary.

I wish I would have taken a picture. I always thought it was hilarious.

"Moonlover" what a fitting name because your probably a moonbat of some sort. Only moonbats seem to care when I make jokes on Oakland. Take a chill pill and go sit down somewhere.

^yet strangely your entire existence on city-data would be completely meaningless if it were not for these "moonbats" you claim to hate (basically all you do is troll the "moonbats" in the Bay Area forum).
