Question: In California, if someone has a first offense DUI, and then caught driving with a suspended license, what is the worst outcome during the court date? I know that the fines and tickets have not been paid yet. I am assuming jail time would not come into play, but I am not sure.

I am trying to help a friend get info, but I am not a resident of California and do not know the laws. Googling info doesn't explain much. ANY help is appreciated.

YES, this should have been taken care of asap, as my friend is well aware of. Just needing a Californian to advise what could happen.

I’m not a Californian but a relocated Texan willing to help. I still have my copy of the DMV's California Driver Handbook. On page viii it states…” Effective July 1, 2009- If you have a prior DUI conviction(s) and are convicted of driving with a suspended driver license, you will be required to install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) for up to three years depending on your driving record.”

You can view or download the handbook from the website http://www.dmv.ca.gov/
