Asian Foodstuffs, and not just restaurants - the supermarkets like 99 Ranch, Marina Food, Tin Tin. Cheapest, freshest vegetables and seafood, plus a take out deli section. And the Organic Tofu shop on De Anza Blvd just south of the city limits.

Live crabs crawling around their box in Marina Market, and brilliant people sticking their fingers in there . Quality entertainment.

Too bad they removed that, but it's still a rather oddly entertaining place.

De Anza College is quite nice, as is Memorial Park. And can't forget the famous Duck Pond behind 7-11, and Paul and Eddie's.

+1

What I liked most about Cupertino was the small town feel. Our neighbors were great, very family friendly place...

I like the incredible scenic beauty of the hills surrounding the town, range of excellent restaurants, good roads, decent (if ugly) public library, safe streets, emphasis on education, including a top-quality community college and generally cordial tone. It is an international town, and the various groups pretty much get along.

If I may add what I do not like? It's not a real town with a viable walking downtown, something that I believe is fundamental to a genuinely successful community. It is attractive, well-run suburbia, landscaped, clean, and expensive, but it is a community based exclusively on the automobile. People may walk for exercise but they never walk to a destination. In nearby Los Gatos, Campbell, and even Los Altos, there may well be housing developments surrounding the town core, but for at least some of the town you could walk to the town center, have a cup of coffee, and visit friends on the weekend. I've lived in Cupertino for twenty years and that just never happens here.

You could easily do worse. But I like to believe that you could do better.

Totally agree with the above post. A walkable downtown is what makes some of the nearby towns so attractive (Palo Alto, Los Gatos...)

I still love living in Cupertino for variety of food, relatively larger spaced lots, easy access to highways, and beautiful hills near Foothill and Stevens Creek. We hike in Rancho San Antonio or Fremont Open Space most of the weekend, visit the Ridge and other nearby wineries in Santa Cruz mountains, or attending concerts or shows at De Anza college from time to time. It's a great place to live and raise kids but I still wish we had a real downtown area.

Rather than make a new thread, I thought I'd ask a question on one already made.

Is this area still the same as it was according to the last comment four years ago? Has anything changed in Cupertino in the last four years?
