How much do you pay for gardner in San Jose (house, average cost)

We were looking for a gardener for our house in San Jose. What would be the average cost of the gardener on a monthly basis? What are the things we need to consider when we are talking to a gardener for his services?

I pay $70 month for a bi-weekly mow & blow on our front and back lawns. Probably about 2000 sq ft of turf total. Any extra work is charged by the job.

That's sort of like asking "how much should I expect to pay for gas every month". It depends: what kind of car you have, how much you drive, etc.

What do you want the gardener to do? Just mow the lawn? Do all necessary fertilizing and aerating? Prune the fruit trees? Do weeding? etc., etc.

You can always work a deal if you approach a gardening group that's already making regular visits to neighbors - saves them a trip to work as many properties close by on the same day. Just extra money for them for a little more work on the same block.
