I need to furnish a four bedroom, two living area house in Palo Alto and don't want to spend too much as we are only here for 12 months. Besides IKEA, any local places I could look for cheap furniture? Would love a package deal to get most of the items.

Thanks.

Costco offers furniture but I think the scale of most of the pieces is more suitable to Texas sized rooms.

IMHO go the IKEA route or use Craigslist. In Portland we have furniture consignment stores, I don't know if they exist in the South Bay.

I think Ikea will be your cheapest new furniture option, but if you are looking for even cheaper I will echo Craigslist or garage sales. You can also check through the local goodwills and salvation army stores. There is a salvation army in San Jose off of Winchester that always has a huge selection of furniture--of course too see a bunch of outdated furniture there too. You can also go the online route and just have everything sent straight to your new house--overstock.com or amazon.com--there are some cheap and reasonable furniture options on there and you can buy it all at once if that is what you are looking to do.

I saw today that the Ashley Furniture Store in Fremont (Pacific Commons Shopping Center) is closing it's store. They advertise up to 70% their inventory. You should call them and see how long the store will stay open for.
