Thanks everyone for the great tips? If it snows, are the sidewalks typically pretty cleared?
"Pretty cleared," yes, but whether it snows while you are in Santa Fe or not, be prepared to encounter an icy patch here and there. There can be black ice on sidewalks. Don't assume that everywhere you step will be 100% clear. Stuff melts during the day, runs into streets and sidewalks, and freezes at night, it's a daily cycle, and places that don't get sunlight often don't thaw completely until spring.
I am visiting over Memorial Day weekend. Driving down from Denver. Anything I should be aware of in advance in terms of events in town that might affect our enjoyment of one of my fav cities in the US? The hotel said SF doesn't get tremendously crowded over Memorial Day - was she lying? Should we make dinner reservations well in advance, be prepared to queue at the museums, etc?
No offense to Towanda, but I couldn't disagree more about The Shed - never had a bad meal there and I like the atmosphere. It is a popular spot and you might have to wait for a table, but they make great margaritas at the bar and the people are friendly.

If you were able to book a room she is probably not lying. I don't know of any big events happening at that time. You will not likely face big crowds or long lines except at the most popular restaurants which always seem to have a long wait regardless of season.
Check out the Convention and Visitors Bureau Calendar.

Good thing we don't all like the same restaurants or the lines would be so long we would never get a table.
