We love black canyon (elevation in the 8000s) in sf national forest but it will be in the 20s at night next week and we will be camping with toddlers. We prefer aspen surroundings and non Koa type parks and would like for our campgrounds to at least have vault toilets and water available. All the state parks appear to be too far away from Santa Fe and the sf nat forest website is a bear to navigate! 😉 thanks!

Ps we welcome any tips of camping with children as well as entertaining kids in nm we will be traveling
Pss we love our kids but will also need a break from them on our ten-day trip so any drop in play care centers or parent survival nights held by organizations and things like that will be music to our ears. So far all we know about are kids quest in Albuquerque and explora parents night out in Albuquerque. (We are on a tight budget as well)
Psa Do I even ask about hostels in nm or is that just not a safe and clean option for families? Never been to one!

bodyofsantafe , a reputable and"chic-chic" yoga place/also dining has a drop in child care on site...check their web site for any info.

The Koa is well kept place with the larger RV's away from the tenter/small vehicle. Its probably 20 min from "town".

Not sure when you'll be in the area, but Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque has a free Parents' Night Out every third Saturday of the month:

You may have looked at a 20 Celsius (68F) reading, which would be about right for that area. Here is the long term (next week) forecast for nearby Hyde Memorial State Park:

It certainly doesn't get in the 20s (Fahrenheit) in New Mexico in August or September, no.

Doh.....You're right of course. Confused the name with a ranch I had for sale down near Conchas Lake. Dang, I hate when that happens!
But - the altitude and camping availability is/was correct about Cochiti..... Thanks for the correction.
