Moving to Santa Fe from Maryland this summer. My current bank is limited to the Northeast so I'm trying to figure out what bank to switch to. I could join national banks like Bank of America, Wachovia, etc. but it seems they don't get very high marks from customers. I've tried to review regional banks in the area such as First National Bank of Santa Fe but not a lot of information on them, so I'm seeking advice from this forum.
Criteria:
1) Has at least a few, reasonably accessible ATMs in Santa Fe and throughtout NM.
2) Has a very useful online banking site, including bill pay, that works with Quicken.
3) Has good customer service.
4) Mainly only need checking/savings
5) A credit union is OK as well
If people have had good experiences with national banks, I'm not ruling them out.
I have my business & personal account with First National of SF. I'm very pleased with them, on all the counts you mention. They're also a member of a national ATM network (Allpoint), so you can get cash fee-free nationwide. Their online banking site is also good, integrated with quickbooks & quicken, and includes free billpay.
The other local bank to consider is Los Alamos National Bank
which would also score highly on your criteria. Please bank locally, and good luck with your move!

Reason: bad web link
I just moved here 6 months ago and ended up going with First Community Bank mostly because it had a branch closest. The folks at the Cerrillos branch are lovely, the branch off San Mateo & St. Francis not so much. Their online banking and bill paying is barely passable. I'll be watching this thread with interest as I'm pretty seriously thinking about making a change. Perhaps even a credit union -- anyone have input/opinions on Del Norte CU?
SwansDown: I really hoped FCB would upgrade their web-services, but they haven't for almost 5 years. I want to consolidate to a local bank, but I'm addicted to B of A's web-services.

I liked Del Norte a lot when I was with them - their online banking is good, with a strong checkfree connection for bill pay. staff are friendly (I was at the Cordova branch). I only moved from them because they weren't strong on the business banking side. But if I just needed a personal account, I'd probably still be with Del Norte.
The other good thing about DNCU is of course that their bank card is accepted at any credit union ATM with no fee, and they're everywhere.

Reason: another thought!
That's a good feature I hadn't though of. Thanks for the input.

B of A's online banking is the only reason I stay with them. It's second to none. Sadly though, the branches suck.
