I have one prized possesion in my entire life that I worked extremly hard to get, my 2006 Nissan Altima. I hardly drive it except when taking my Grandmother shopping so therefor it has only 13,000 miles on it. Went to wal-mart today for some Thanksgiving shopping and dropped her off at the door. I went All the way to the back of the parking lot away from the main traffic and parked.. I come out an hour later and there is a deep gouge across my right rear bumper.. Needless to say it ruined my weekend.
It's just hardly seems worth it to have something nice.

That's a bummer I know how you feel.. driving here is quite an event. And we are getting into that time of year where it'll only get worse. I see accidents at least 3-4 times a week on 41.

Within a week of moving here, I was blessed with red paint along the bumper of my silver sedan & 2 months ago, I was backed into on my drivers side door by a guy who was fighting with his girlfriend. In his anger, he threw his truck into reverse & floored it without looking behind him & slammed into me as I was driving by with my kids. Talk about disbelief. And I've lost count of how many hair splitting close calls I've had.....

I've seen people hit cars & drive off- right in front of me. Once, I even yelled at them to stop & they acted like I wasn't even there. Just about everyone I know has some crazy story of being hit at one point.

As much of a car person I am, I came to the conclusion I will not buy another new car while living here. It's just not worth it. I might buy a tank though

The Wal-Mart I use here has about 25 cameras on the roof. It might be worth a call to their security people to see if they could help you identify the hit and runner.

This here is my main beef.. I hate many of the rednecks who own those damn trucks to begin with and what gets me is when they get them jacked up. Now that you mentioned this, it truly figures someone like this would be fighting with their gf, get real angry and back into your side. They drive reckless here for sure. I think especially as I get older and I notice that the kind of car you drive most of the time reflects your personality. I drive a Saturn. A girl I talked to told me she thought it was kinda "girly" to own one.
Also, it never pays to have anything newer. I am NEVER going the new route again. Its too much aggravation. The newest car I owned was one with 30,000 miles and my car payment was pretty stiff. I am glad I got relieved of it though.

Most people in Sarasota drive too fast, tailgate, and are not courteous. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and LOVE each other. It really would be better that way

i hate it when people hit cars and just drive off. we have noticed the standard of driving here is pretty damn awful- any conincidence 99% of people are driving with cells stuck to their ears. its called lack of concentration !!!

I put my life and well being of my car in my hands every time I go to the Gulf Gate post office which is every day. That parking lot is an accident waiting to happen every day. Never had so many close calls with no one even looking to see if you are behind them.
