I agree with some of the others here, you probably should try the Tampa - St. Pete metro area. Perhaps Brandon, Plant City for cheaper rentals.

The closer you get to the beaches, the higher the rental prices, so you should probably drop that from your wish list.

Do you have pets? Dogs? A lot of landlords don't want to rent to people with dogs, especially large dogs or certain breeds due to insurance issues.

Be very careful of ads on the Internet advertising too good to be true prices on rentals as they may well be a scam. Some people are listing vacant properties in foreclosure that they do not own as cheapie rentals, then breaking in & changing the locks. People such as yourself put down deposits, move in -- then the real owner or bank comes knocking on the door & kicks you out as illegal tenants. Please, get a rental agent to help you avoid such situations.

You can check out Tampa area schools at the county school district web site: Hillsborough County Public Schools-Tampa Florida Once you have an idea of which school districts you think will work for your children, your rental agent can narrow down your search areas to those districts.

I would also suggest you go to the Tampa Bay online web site at:
Tampa Bay Online - breaking news headlines, weather & deals - Tampa newspapers & WFLA - TBO.com to get a feel for the area, neighborhoods, etc.

The more you learn about the Tampa area, the easier it is for you to determine where you want to look for rentals.

Good luck with your rental search.

What is gas running per gallon down there, right now? Husband has a company gas card, so really not a concern, just curious.

Thanks for the info. That is horrible! Is that a big problem down there?

And what happens if the company due to the price of fuel increasing at an alarming rate cuts the cards out or limits them?
