Hello all:
My plan is to purchase a 28' or so Grady White I have a canal home on Rock Creek Dr. I wold like to know how far up the Peace and or the Myakka river I would be able to go with this size boat.

Not too far. And depending on the tide not far at all.
There is no such thing as a perfect boat for all types of boating & conditions.

I live on the Auburn waterway, further up from you on Rock Creek.
My first boat here was a Grady White wanna be boat.
It was a Seamaster 2600 WAC (walk around cabin) with a big hardtop, a Volvo I/O and a 30" draft. I went 8 miles up the Peace River to the Navigator Grill several times.

I don't recommend I/O boats here but you can get up there with the a good GPS chip guiding you up the winding channel.

The Grady I'm looking at will have twin outboards

On the Peace River, you will be fine. The cruise boat out of Fisherman's Village goes up there everyday and it holds like 30 people or more. You just need to have a good GPS map to stay in the channel because it winds like a snake in some areas.

As far as the Myakka, you likely won't want to venture beyond the El Jobean bridge on 776, which is just a few miles north of the Harbor channel.

It will be more gas but I think you'll find yourself cruising the ICW more than the rivers.

OK thanks good info I knew about the I/O issue I just didn't want to get into a smaller craft. We want to be able to go out to the Gulf also and one of the must haves according to the "Admiral" is a stand up head.
