This has been debated a lot on various forums. I think the primary factors are what kind of car are you willing to drive, and how many times a year you actually show up. If you're OK with a retired cop car from the county auction, buying is OK. If you must have a "nice" car, you've got a rapidly depreciating asset that you don't use very much, plus the hassle of having somebody start it periodically, wasting time while you're in FL if there are maintenance issues, etc, etc. Any chance you can get along without a car at all? Bicycle? Scooter?
