Does anyone know if there are adult ed programs for the mentally challenged in Sarasota? Am potentially moving, and my 29 year old brother-in-law would be coming with me. He's in a work study program up here in New York where he has class instruction some days and works at a local store on other days. There's also no age limit for his program - he wouldn't ever graduate - and its also paid for by Medicare. I'm looking for something similar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would be very interested if anyone finds a need for an enriching drop-in center for the mentally handicapped. Our 42 year old son who lives with us is not employed but desperately needs to be busy and engaged. The only drop-in centers seem to be for the mentally ill. That's not always the best combination. I'm interested in getting started if I could just find others to work with.

Loveland Center. It's not in Sarasota but it's close and a good option. Loveland Center of Venice, FL | Center for adults with developmental disabilities

Also I believe SCTI has some programs: Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI) : Home
