Please, ideas and thoughts on the best community in Venice area?

In a few months, I'm retiring to Venice and I'm looking for a community that has great social activities, a great tennis program, and exercise program. I want to accomplish this with low fees. Both HOA and membership fees. At this time, I'm not a golfer so I do not want to pay for a golf course if I don't need to.

I want the community to be financially secure, and of course, I want the most for my money. If this seems too much to dream for, that's why they call it a dream.

What is your idea of low fees? Tennis courts are very expensive to keep up and you'll have to pay for the other amenities even if you don't use them.

Did you try looking for just a tennis club?

You didn't say whether you were looking for a single family home, condo, mobile home, villa. Also what price range are you looking in? It does make a difference. I can give you a list of communities that have tennis in Venice if you tell us what type of property you are looking for.

Check out Venetian Falls, very active community with lots of amenities and things to do. You can find out all about the community on their website: http://www.venetianfalls.org/

HOA fees are running about $735 but this is also a maintenance free community so with that $735 it also includes stuff like your lawn care.

I'm looking for a single family home in the 200-300K range. Prefer to be maintenance free, but it doesn't have to be. Again, on my dream list: Three bedrooms, two baths, at least a two car garage, open floor plan on one floor, with a swimming pool. How's my dream sound now?

Your dream is very reachable. You can search the MLS at Florida Homes for Sale direct from MLS. Some suggestions are Bellagio, Grand Palm, Islandwalk at West Villages, Lakes of Jacaranda, Pelican Pointe, Sawgrass, Stoneybrook, Venetia, Venetian Falls, Venetian Golf, and Waterford. However, the HOA fees do vary by location.
