They told me it would depend on the size of my place, etc. they came and gave me an estimate first, I have a 2bedroom 2bath and it doesn't need much, I have no small kids or anything, but I'm picky, lol. I pay $85.00. They're done with my place in 3 hours but it's a very thorough cleaning. I'm going to stay and make myself busy, that's what I did the first couple of times, and with all the others, and I just can't bear the thought of people in my house while I'm not home. To me it's worse than them cleaning around me, or moving from room to room to get out of the way, though that's annoying to me as well.
I'm a do it yourself type, but I just can't keep up with it anymore, physically.

Frida, I think you're overpaying. $28.33/hr to clean a house is pretty expensive......... Before-Wife (Circa 4 years ago) I would pay $20/hr and provide the cleaning supplies in a closet. Since the house had central vac they used my vac as well.

I'm willing to pay a little more for the job to be done right, with no goldbricking. I've tried a few that charged less, one that I found on living social, but they didn't do as thorough a job as I like done. But then, like I said, I'm very picky about it.

I pay $100 for a 2/2 but we also have an 8 YO and 5 shedding pets, and I make them clean the huge lanai every time. $85 sounds about right to me. My brothers have two different people, and they pay $60 & $85 respectively for a 2/1 & small 2/2 with no lanai (about 1100 SF).

And you're not just paying them for the time they're there, but realistically they have to consider their drive time to and from when they give you a price.

In TX if I am home I usually iron in the utility room--save it up for a week and I have enough to last while my cleaner works the rest of the downstairs...
or now that my husband has retired and doesn't like to be home when the cleaners are here we often go out to breakfast and then do errands--maybe go to movie...
It is nice because they are there to let the dog out at least once...

In FL we are usually not there when the new cleaner comes--our daughter leaves the key under the mat that day and she returns it when she is done
have 4/2 about 2000 sq ft with carpet in 3 bedrooms and she charges 112
same company we were using with a wonky lady before -- we xchanged her for different lady who has only cleaned for us once but our daughter likes much better--gets more done...and she pays the same for 3/2 but same sq ft...
