Hi,
My husband and I are considering moving to Englewood (maybe Venice) area and would like to know if there are stores where we could get fresh, organic produce, like a Whole Foods type of store. Restaurants that focus on more healthy meals?

thanks!

There's the farmers market downtown on Dearborn St and also on Dearborn is a restaurant called Mangos. They have a wide selection of organic foods on the menu.

Thanks SoFlGal! We are looking to relocate, possibly in Englewood. Could you recommend a Property Management Company to contact for possible rentals?

Thanks

Gosh, I've had the worst luck with recommending property management companies. It seems like nobody calls back and it's so hard to get info from them. I wish I could be more helpful

There is also a newer restaurant on 41 just north of Captain Eddie's in Venice which has lot of "natural" food...forget the name right now but we ate there once--food was good, attractive interior with lot of natural light..does lunch and dinner...
not that close to Englewood though since north of Venice Island

You can try Manasota Key rentals and ask for Kacie. They have a big selection of rentals.

As far as the accessibility of organic products, there's a roadside vendor just north of Dearborn on McCall Rd that is open daily that sell seasonal produce, plus the weekly farmer's market. The Englewood and Venice Wal-marts both have organic produce, and Whole Foods is in Sarasota, about 40 minutes away.

There is Richards Whole Foods on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. There are several farmers markets around. Publix has the GreenWise organic products - http://www.publix.com/wellness/green...oducts/Home.do

Any Realtor can look up rentals that are in the MLS, but you will have to connect with several different rental property management companies to find a rental if nothing in the MLS meets your needs. The rentals are just few and far between. Try Rent Me Florida, Craigslist, the Sun Newspaper, VRBO and there are several real estate agencies that have their own rental department. If you find a rental by owner, just check with the county records to be sure they are the actual owner.

Thank you dpbarr2000! I will certainly try Manasota Key rentals.

Thanks loves2read (me too) for the restaurant advice!

Thanks TamRE, I would have not thought of looking into the county records to see if they are the actual owner!

You will love Vino Loco on Dearborn. Vino Loco The menu changes weekly and there is a major emphasis on using all-natural and organic ingredients. I was thrilled to find this restaurant - even the sugar and the lemon for the iced tea was organic. Looks like they are temporarily closed for renovation but will reopen July 9.
