Hi, I am contemplating this spring to move to the Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice area and have a few questions. I read on C-D about the Brohard Beach in Venice and I have a dog, so I would love to live within 15-20 minutes of there. I am looking for a rental either small home or townhome preferably with a small fenced in area for my dog. I would like to pay no more than $900 monthly on an annual lease if this is doable. Of course, I want a safe area with areas to walk. I am not familiar with the prices or the areas, so any advice as to the most reasonable areas that are safe would be very much appreciated. I am 66 years old, work at home, so don't need to worry about computing to a job. I used to live in South Florida for years but have only visited the West Coast of Florida. Thanks for all replies!

There are areas with dog parks. I would rather live near walkable areas convenient to dog parks than the beach. You can always make the beach a special treat. Saltwater & dogs can create issues as well. Also saltwater does not totally dry easily, and can make a mess of your car.
