Last time we had a septic system inspected it was $200. We are in escrow on another property, and the vendor we used previously does not inspect north of Bee Ridge. The inspector our realtor contacted wants $500. We liked the $200 price much better than $500.

Anyone have a recommendation?

$400 is too high! Pumpout/inspection should never be more than $250-300 MAX
Call around the local septic companies for pricing. They all do inspections.

Our realtor found Ellis Miller Septic to do it for $150. Maybe that $500 included a pump out.

I appreciate the information and suggestions. Good to know what we should be paying.

Not sure about the should never be comment. The market sets the price. Have been pricing them lately for clients and all have been coming in at about the same price. Now if you can find a smaller operator who needs the work, well there you go.

I don't know what happened to the prices. Martin Septic In North Port used to do a septic inspection for $75 and now they charge $200. The pump out is on top of that.

Maybe the County tripled the price they charge to dispose of the "stuff"?? Last summer when we sold our PC house I had to get the tank pumped and inspected. I called 4 places. Each was under $275 for the pumpout & inspection. I went with Englewood Environmental since they could do it the quickest.

I've used Martin, Gibson, SOS, Sunshine, Englewood and Port Charlotte Septic and I'm sure a few more that I cant think of right now and they've all been right around the $250 mark. The ones I've used seemed to do an OK job and my clients seemed to be pretty pleased.

The guy did the inspection for $150 and will do a pump out for $250. And he is Amish. I love that.
