You need documentation to show. I brought my passport, SS card, a utility bill and a Verizon bill that had my address. Those satisfied them. I would err on the side of bringing more than less. I had to print out the bills with our address since we online bank and autopay.

You'll also be registered vote at the same time as getting your drivers license.

I have titles so I think it should be straightforward. Did you already have a FL driver's license or did you have to get one of those also?

Thank you. I was wondering about voter registration. Nice to be able to get that done at the same time!!

For a drivers license, that's a good idea. When we did our drivers licenses we took our passports and our mortgage and insurance papers for the house we just bought plus our birth certs. I don't recall which ones they looked at with the exception of the passports. We did our dr. licenses first 'cause we hadn't gotten Florida insurance for our vehicles yet. Much easier once you have a Fla. drivers license.
You still need any and all documents for ALL name changes.

My tax office wanted two pieces of mail addressed to each of us to prove our address or utility bills as well as SS number, etc

Regarding the use of your passports. Did they have your new address on them or your old. I interpreted the dmv website as using your passport to prove your identity (so address not as relevant) and other docs (utility bills etc) as proof of residential address.

I guess our mortgage and home insurance papers satisfied all of the requirements 'cause we didn't need any mail. Our new house is also our primary residence too, maybe that had something do do with it....

Your passport is used for proof of your legal name and the one they will put on your Fla. license. And the other documents to show you live in Fla. If you don't have your Social Security Card you can sign a document instead that they provide.

My Vin# on car needed to be verified with the title. There is a form you will need to confirm this.

They walked out to the parking lot to get the vin # from my car. DH has a company car and the fleet took care of registering/plates for it.

And you will need to look for the tax office for license/registration., there's no dmv. There will be signs for where to go in the county building.

If you do not have a passport you have to bring an original birth certificate (from the municipality, not the hospital where you were born) or a certified copy.

They changed the ID requirements as of 2010. When we renewed our drivers licenses after that date I had to get a certified copy of both my birth certificate and marriage license in order to renew my FL drivers license that I'd had at that time for almost 30 years.

So read the ID requirements carefully before scheduling your appointment.
