There are so many threads on this forum of people seeking housing advice for great schools and neighborhoods with children. Wondering where those posters ended up choosing?

So: if you relocated to the area...where did you end up? Are you happy?

We ended up in Nokomis - we are in a non-restrictive HOA older community - not gated - we are happy - my gifted son got to go to Pine View - which we had not even heard of and found out it is one of the best schools in the country and my other son has a good school also. There are two boys a few houses away that they play with - I wish there were more children in the neighborhood and less retirees but there is nothing to do about that - that's the way it is here.

I cant complain about the natural beauty of the area and being 5 minutes from the beach.

We ended up in Nokomis. We enjoy the area here, feels less crowded. We have 3 kids in elementary school. So far so good !

Default Northport

We wanted to be close to my wife's childhood home of Sarasota but finding a nice home with some room in our price range resulting in us choosing North Port. Our child goes to Pine View, which was 90% of the reasons to relocate to Sarasota, and it has proven to be a good fit for him in terms of peers/ academics. With Pine View you must live in the County but you can be bused from anywhere in the county. If it wasn't for Pine View we may have considered Manatee County.

Good to hear that Calvin - many of my sons friends commute from North Port to Pine View - I think it is worth it. When we were ready to buy I really liked Englewood but the area we liked was not in Sarasota County -

We also chose North Port. I'm not terribly impressed with the high school. We actually homeschool, but if our teens do decide to go to school, it will likely be elsewhere in the county.

We ended up in Lakewood Ranch, we love the area, our community has tons of kids but we are not impressed with the schools, my daughter has a 504 and it has been a process and i will leave it at that, she will be going to private school next year, probably St. Josephs .
