Separate from the country club, Lakewood Ranch also has the Athletic Center, which offers 20 tennis courts and hosts a number of tennis tournaments during the year. The Athletic Center also requires separate membership fees.

I just remembered something from way back in my memory banks....

Saddlebrook Resort, about 45 minutes North of Tampa has an Internationallt acclaimed Tennis Academy. You could live in Odessa, 1/2 the way to the beach, and be at Saddlebrook in 30 minutes, and at the beach in 30 minutes.

I remember seeing the kids work out and play, and it was all high level...all ages. and lots of players from abroad. With that remote location, overheads are low, so pricing should be low too.

Tennis is very important, close access to tennis academies, and courts. Within 15 mins to the gulf is ideal.

Can you clarify what you want regarding a tennis academy. Do you want a daily training programs for an elite player, or just occasional training with a club pro?

If you're just looking for a club with a club pro, then there are lots of choices in Sarasota. Check out The Landings (10 minutes to beach), or The Meadows Country Club (30 minutes to beach). If you want to be almost right on the beach on Longboat Key, check out Tennis Gardens at The Resort at Longboat Key Club, and Cedars Tennis resort.

The local court access would be for me, preferably within the community so I can also have easy access to play. I'm good with the academies, since each area we are looking at great access to them (Naples, Delray, Boca, and Sarasota). Im partial to Delray, love that town. But, wife wants to research West coast to see if it's a fit. If not, then we'll go back to Boca/Delray.

I've been to the Delray racquet club on Atlantic Ave. They have a small Tennis stadium with lots of courts with hard & soft surfaces. I know there's high level play there, and even pro play, but I only spent a week there, and never saw any kids.
