My husband died in May of last year, the height of Covid. He was in and out of Sarasota Memorial since February of last year. It was terrible, I couldn't visit many times because of restrictions due to Covid. He was moved around the hospital wherever they could find a bed due to the amount of people admitted with Covid. Thinking of what we went through due to this virus brings nightmares to me. Vaccines weren't available and when they were, the hospital wouldn't give him one.

He passed the end of May. He choked to death. They called me at 5am to say he was choking and did I want him on a ventilator. I demanded they suction him. They said they had only one therapist who could do that and they were in the ICU working on a Covid patient. I demanded they find someone to suction him. BTW, he was in Pediatrics because there were no beds available in the adult rooms due to Covid.

They said they'd try to find someone to suction him. Half hour later, he was dead. Not from Covid, but because he swallowed something which they denied they gave him anything to cause it.

Long story, short, I was furious and understood they were overwhelmed with Covid patients but my husband did not have Covid. I was very curious what they would put on his death certificate as I thought they might list cause of death as Covid.

The death certificate listed his death as respiratory failure. The Death Certificate asks if it was due to Covid. It was marked 'NO.' The certificate asks the secondary cause of death and the correct cause was noted.

I find it impossible that doctors, nurses and the Medical Examiner would put their signatures on a Death Certificate that was a lie. He did not have Covid nor die from it. The cause of death was correct.

I think this nonsense that hospitals are listing people dying from Covid when they didn't, is a ridiculous lie. They can't do that. The Death Certificate asks specifically if the patient died from Covid even if a secondary cause. In my husbands case, it was filled out and signed by multiple doctors, nurses and the Medical Examiner correctly.
Thank you for sharing your story.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

I tried to buy a home covid test last week. Visited 2 cvs and a Walgreens. No luck.
Maybe the situation is better this week and stock has been replenished.
Just one datapoint for you all.
Am I the only one?

My local Walgreens had a hand printed sign posted at the pharmacy area to the effect of "WE DON'T HAVE ANY COVID TESTS, AND WE DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU CAN FIND THEM".

I truly hope you are not responding to the lady who said her husband died on the post before you. This would be the worst post you have ever made if so... and that's saying a lot.

No you aren’t
I know people in 3 states who have looked w/o any luck
I think supply chain issues are probably part of the problem but there was lull between Delta and Omicrom started its inroads and I think companies just stepped down in production
Maybe they are also having issues with absentees because of Omicrom

I bought about 10 of the Bio and 4 of the brand my grandson’s school required them to use to show he or his mom were not contagious if they caught it—gave some to my daughter
We have used a couple—but we rarely go out period and so far have not been around anyone who has had active CoVid
