Sarasota Named One of 10 Best Places to Live in U.S.

The city also ranked No. 2 on the “Fastest-Growing Places in the U.S.” list and No. 5 on the list of “Safest Places to Live in the U.S.”

Sarasota has been named one of the top 10 Best Places to Live in the U.S. for 2021-22, according to U.S. News & World Report. The Sarasota area is No. 9 on the annual list, which ranks metro areas based on job market, housing affordability, quality of life, desirability and net migration ratings. U.S. News & World Report notes that Sarasota “has a distinct vibe that’s different from Florida’s relative coastal cities, with its own vibrant arts scene, beachy atmosphere and burgeoning food culture.” Among the amenities and features recognized as making the region special are St. Armands Circle and the “up-and-coming” Rosemary District neighborhood.

Sarasota also landed on two other top-10 lists from U.S. News & World Report, ranking No. 2 among Fastest-Growing Places in the U.S. and No. 5 on the list of “Safest Places to Live in the U.S.”

Maybe the last thing Florida needs is more press? we, here, can't manage the growth/invasion (legal and Illegal) now!
Yes, great press like this can be burdensome on the infrastructure. Has anyone addressed the overcrowding in schools? not good...look at the problems with FPL transmission lines, Spectrum, Verizon access, bridge constructions, roads and highways widening necessities, policing problems, traffic management, water runoff/management, land use/zoning, hospital/health facilities/construction, highrise construction, parking space/access, and of course crime.

Have people in SWFL ignored the massive influx of illegals? For example, I've known of more illegal Haitians in SWFL-Sarasota-Manatee that I've seen in 25 years ! yes, illegal.

The Sarasota Magazine says "the City ranks..." but when I read the US News & World Report's methodology, it says "metro areas", so it's really ranking Sarasota County, & Manatee County both, so Bradenton and North Port are included as is the City of Sarasota, & unincorporated Sarasota County.

There is a huge difference between just the City of Sarasota, and the Sarasota Metro area.

Our area's been ranking high in U.S. News & World Report for years now, so I don't think this years edition will have a large impact upon newcommers. By now, anyone looking to retire who is 50+ has heard of Sarasota....Venice not so much, so let's hope it stays that way.

When I'm traveling outside Florida, and I tell people I live in Venice, most say where's that? I tell them Venice is a mobil home park 45 minutes South of Sarasota.

I think Venice is "under water." https://www.newhomesource.com/learn/...asota-florida/
