Are there any fish deaths occurring around Venice/ Englewood?
We are in Naples and wanted to go to the beach tomorrow. It turns out the beaches here are littered with thousands of dead fish.
So, I won't be going to any Naples beach...hoping the beaches are fine up there. It is my birthday tomorrow and I really do not want to spend the day inside.

Thanks, Kristin

Default Siesta Key

My suggestion would be Siesta Key, it is a beautiful beach we were there 2 weeks ago and downtown has all sorts of shops and restraunts in the area.
best wishes and Happy Birthday

I agree. It is a drive from Naples - probably 3 hours, but it is beautiful there, and the town is great! For her birthday, she should eat at the Blaze Cafe!

No dead fish here in Venice, must be a red tide bloom to the south.

The news said diatoms. The diatoms are killing all the bait fish, catfish, crabs, etc...

Thanks, I think we will take a ride there tomorrow.

Yes, it's from a bloom of the non-toxic algae diatom. No health hazard for humans from the bloom.

I agree, Siesta beach is the way to go. It was beautiful today.
