Hello there.

I currently live in Ohio.. Me, my boyfriend, and our one year old son.

I have been doing research on places in Georgia and so far Savannah is my favorite choice.

I was just wondering about the resident perspective. What I'm looking for when I move is something safe, good schooling, affordability, and friendly atmosphere. Any advice would be well appreciated.

Also advice on a nice apartment to move to. Thanks!

i moved from michigan to savannah just this past feb. schools are iffy unless you go private. what price range on apartments? you best bets to limit your choices would be pooler, richmond hill, some of the apartments on king george blvd (georgetown), or on the islands.

Do you have a job down here? If not I wouldn't come down here.

Savannah is beautiful. We have some schools with problems but we have some great schools too! Consider Georgetown, Wilmington Island, Pooler, and the S.W. areas. Good luck.

The schools are horrible, unless you go Savannah Arts or private. Your child will probably be 3 grade levels above those here in GA. The best is when I went to Beach H.S. for a visit, and I listen to the morning announcements, and hear the administrators tell the kids not to have sex or simulated sex in the stairwells. Yeah stay away, the snow aint that bad in ohio.

Hi, While there are parts of Savannah with the problems that many cities face, we have some very nice areas. Have you narrowed down your search to be close to a job? AS others have said, there are many rentals to choose from in Pooler, Effingham County, Richmond Hill, Georgetown, Wilmington Island. Of these, the most reasonable is going to be Pooler or Georgetown. There have actually been some good deals on apartments. With a lot of homes becoming rentals, the apartment complexes have had to become more competetive. In case you were wondering, I am a Realtor.

Her child is one year old. I just couldn't resist pointing that out to you.

The child will have to attend school at some point. Seems a lot better to go ahead and find your neighborhood and get to know your community.
