They seem to be a bit nicer than Supercenters. Hopefully it doesn't get a generic mini-me exterior.

Preach... seriously.. the one they are permitting in another town I am familiar with is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. They submitted 7 possible designs when it all started and then at the last minute they picked the crappiest ugly one - I wonder if Market District will incorporate them as a tenant in a center expansion to include the MD design aesthetic or if it will be a stand-alone plop down?

I finally came across the site plan for that shopping center that was planned for the intersection of 301 and the Bypass.

Statesboro Plaza

Across from a proposed 200 acre mixed use development with Super Target.
Oh, what could have been.

It was around the time of the recession, so I'm guessing it essentially killed it (forever). The land has been for sale for quite some time now.

And I'm not sure about that mixed use development. I had only heard some [small] rumblings about it at the time (mainly online), but no real details. That whole area (from 301S to 25) would be a great area for a master planned community/mixed use development.

It seems odd that any developer would have identified a "Super Target" on a prospectus if a letter of intent wasn't in hand. Target is VERY protective of their brand.

Eh. It was about seven years ago, so either way it doesn't matter at this point. No Super Target, Target, or mixed use development have come to fruition.

Yes, Target (and a bunch of other stores, as well as a movie theater) were announced for West Chatham Commons at I-16 and Pooler Parkway. But that project also died during the recession.

Rumors abound that new owners are trying to get that going again. It will happen eventually, and I feel certain it will include Target. But a movie theater is out of the equation, since two multiplex theaters have been built in Pooler since then.

Wasn't that just a large power center? Maybe it's good that it died, the new developers can put together a better plan.
