I lived in the South at the beginning of the mass Northern migration. At that time, Savannah was considered a mini-New Orleans and Charleston was the uptight cousin. Would you say that reputation has stayed the same or have the years changed the city into becoming more gentrified?

Edit: Upon further thought, it occurs to me that you are referring to in-migration of folks from northern states. Sounded more like you were talking about people from the south migrating north.
Tell us, what year was it that you last "knew" Savannah? Maybe I or one of the other posters can tell you how much, if anything, has changed since..

Savannah is still like a mini New Orleans. It's much more laid-back and party oriented than Charleston.

The last year I "knew" Savannah - 2005. Yes, I am talking about all the Yankees moving South. Started in the 90s. I swear at one time every other person was from Ohio.
