Looking to buy a small home in Savannah.

I haven't been able to figure out what areas/zip codes that are great investments, high crime, low crime, etc...

Downtown is fine with me, but not interested in a condo.

Surrounding areas, I am not familiar with so please give some advice.

Last time I visited, it was a number of years ago, so I am making plans to come over again.

I am from out of town and no, not from up north.

I have no kids so schools aren't an issue.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of small homes available in the Savannah area. Do you want to be near the rivers and marshes? Do you need to be near a hospital? Work? Will you need to be near public transportation? Are you interesting in a community that is church oriented?

Depending on where the house is, will have a great deal to do with the price. The higher the price, the more likely to have little or no crime problem. The lower priced ones are usually in areas that are run down. Prices have dropped a great deal lately. Depending on the number of bedrooms and baths, you could find many for sale now.

A much better idea is to rent for a year, get to know the city and then buy. It's really not wise to buy without knowing where you would like to be. Some areas are soooooo different from others.

Isle of Hope and Isle of Hope area are ALWAYS great investments. Low crime, friendly people, low traffic, close to everything.
