There seem to be stories about human "remains" discovered often these days as well...

Savannah Police investigate fatal stabbing

I believe this makes four homicides within a 36 hour period.

What, indeed. I want to know why an older lady was killed outside her house. What the hell?

I believe she was inside and was hit by a stray bullet.

That is so sad, really just awful.

two more:

A way forward: tougher prosecution on violent thugs less on lesser offenses, more money on after school activities for kids and less on building political shiny projects.

Mayor DeLoach makes a great point the city intern program for local youth is a very good investment and opportunity for our local students: https://www.wsav.com/investigates/cr...mes/1325707214 Let's double down on things like this and also making the police officers accessible and relatable (the 'pr' lip sync challenge' and things like officers handing out stuff at activities for local kids). They really take on a hazardous and challenging job and thanks for all they do.

This city still has crime far higher per capita though than most of its size - it should not be sugar coated or accepted. I think this year it has also been more under-reported probably for tourism and political reasons. We can do better. I know it. I hope we can make more progress this year and still more next. But with the way it's ingrained in this town... well it's going to be a an uphill battle.

There’s always a spike in the summer. They say it’s the heat.

It's when school's out. That's not the whole thing but likely part of it.
