Glad to see construction moved up. Hopefully lighting will be added to all if I-16 between I-95 and I-516.

Quote:
The resolution authorizes the projects to advance; authorizes the Department to manage the projects and act as SRTA’s agent, even though there is no toll associated with these projects; and authorizes Georgia DOT to make funds available for the outlined projects with annual appropriations. The projects are part of the Department’s Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP), and are currently in the procurement phase.

“The combined $319 million of improvements are the State’s second set of MMIP projects to advance,” said Georgia DOT Commissioner Russell McMurry. “We appreciate the hard work and commitment of our partners including the State Road and Tollway Authority, the City of Savannah and Chatham County to move this project along at such a fast pace.”
I-16 widening and I-16/I-95 improvement projects moving forward

That 95/16 rendering doesnt solve the issue.

The issue being most people have no clue how to properly get off 95-S onto the 16-E exit. Also people who have no clue how to get onto 95-S from 16-W exit. That's the most dangerous cross over on that junction. That's the one that really needs to get fixed, not 16-E to 95-N or 95-N to 16-W.

Edit: Haha, NVM. Looked at the rendering wrong. This would solve the problem. Was looking at it upside down.

The rendering has a flyover going from 95S to 16E. That one is sorely needed.
Also, I thought I heard something when this was initially announced that the widening would be expanded beyond 95 to Pooler Parkway, but that wasn't on this update. Hmm

Glad the interchange will finally get lights!

From what info I could find, the project will start either summer or fall of 2019. It was suppose to begin in early 2019, but GDOT ran into some issues. The overall project will be complete by 2022.

From what I read, there will be lights at the I-16/I-95 interchange and at the Deans Forest Rd interchange. I believe the lighting at the I-16/I-516 interchange will be upgraded as well. Honestly lighting needs to added along all of I-16 from Pooler Pkwy into downtown.

If you are talking about 99A, off 95 S, it’s a wonder someone doesn’t get killed there daily.
