We love Savannah and try to get there as much as possible. It's great to see the new construction and the SCAD expansions. But, the cruising on River Street is getting out of control. We'd like to see Savannah flourish, and the cruising is definitely having a negative impact. A coworker even said to me the other day that he spent the weekend in Savannah and he was so disappointed in how much of its charm had been stripped away after the sun when down due to disrespectful people and loud stereos. Even in the very early evenings, the river is not a place you want to bring your kids.

yea, it depends on when you go. The weekend night life is definately adult time. As long as they allow open containers there will be an element of that.

Oh, I know that. I'm not saying it should be turned into Disney World or anything. They should just close the whole street down on weekend nights and let people wander around. I just don't see how blasting the stereos creates an inviting environment.

Most of us locals can't stand it. The local cops just need to enforce the laws on the books. They are really busy doing other things.

We were down there last weekend...the streets were full of trash (and I mean of the human variety).

I'm contacting the Council and I hope others that care about the city do too.

Cruising is an American phenomenom because we are a car culture. Let the kid's be kids, I say. Oh, if anyone happens to see a 55' chevy bel air 4 door in primer gray that sets off car alarms because of the heartwarming thump of a 383 stroker, that will be me
