Hypercanes are essentially a smaller(though some scientists, think larger), more powerful and longer lived version of a hurricane. Theoretically they are produced when ocean temperatures exceed 122 degrees. This can be the result of volcanism, a meteor impact, runaway global warming, etc. The winds could exceed 500 miles per hour and some theorists have postulated that hypercanes formed after the Chicxulub impact which is thought to have contributed to the mass extinctions of that era. I found the information to be fascinating and Hypercanes were a new phenomena , unknown to me.

Makes you wonder does it not???.......between the asteroid impact and possibly weeks of Hypercanes; most species would become extinct.
