BECU is the 500 pound gorilla of local credit unions, very well liked, and all over the place.
Most if not all local credit unions have this agreement where you can make deposits in each other's branches. There are a couple of credit unions like Twinstar and Woodstone? which pay a higher interest rate ( around 3%) on checking accounts if you make twelve or more debit card transactions in a month.

I joined BECU last week. I like their fancy ATMs and online account management systems, but BECU's interest rate are way too low (I also bank online with ING, and they have better if not great rates). BECU gives you around 6 percent on the first $1,000, but than it drops to 0.25 percent for checking and 0.50 percent for savings.

Another negative with BECU was that it took 4 days for my wire transfer from BECU to another bank to go through.

I like Group Health Credit Union (Now "Salal" Credit Union). Got a 10.5% fixed rate signature loan there. They're always friendly and I've never had issues.
