All of the eastside is extremely congested.
And they are not all the same as far as the cities.

They each have their own charm.
Kirkland with its shops and waterfront, Redmond with Redmond Towne Center and Microsoft as well as the new ATand T.

Bellevue is Bellevue with lots of people, stores, hotels, restaurants, museum.

Redmond has a community if either of your parents are 55 years old and want to buy a home.
It is incredible. It has a golf course, restaurant, community center, indoor swimming pool, internet cafe' and the community is only 6 years old.
Trilogy.com Go to Redmond Washington site.

Hope this helps!

If I had to choose from these three I would pick Issaquah, just because of the access to I90... Although getting to it can be a challenge. I used to live in Kirkland and worked in Redmond. Traffic sux. Rude drivers, and that I have to be first sindrome. lol... Which is apparent in driving and in general.

Default It depends on your in-laws lifestyle

I don't see the three communities as all the same. I worked in Redmond and in Kirkland, and have made frequent visits to Issaquah. From what I've observed, Kirkland's waterfront business district along Lake Washington is far superior to either of the others' business districts.

If your inlaws would like to spend time walking along the waterfront, they have the choice of the Sammamish Trail (bike path) in Redmond, or Kirkland, but Redmond's has no waterfront shopping or services near the business district.

Redmond has a GREAT dog park at Marymoor, if they have a congenial dog that loves socializing. As I mentioned above, there's a bike path -- and it's great, for walking or biking.

Issaquah has shopping. Lots of shopping. And, yes, if the inlaws want easy access to the mountains, it has that -- and we liked their villiage theater.

All three are pedestrian friendly, and all three can suffer gridlock during commuter hours.
