To expand a bit on what gallo has said, yes, Qwest owns the trunk line in the Issaquah area. I believe there are only two companies that own the trunk lines in King County, Qwest and Verizon (the old General Telephone Co.-GTE).

GTE covered most of the northeast King County area including towns such as Bothell, Woodinville, Duvall, Redmond, Kirkland, etc. Qwest (or the old "Ma Bell") covered Seattle, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Renton and most of the south King county towns.

With all the deregulation going on, a phone customer has lots of options to choose from other than subscribing to the once exclusive local telephone provider although you still have that option.

The one that is gaining popularity, of course, is VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol. Comcast is one of the major players in this arena as well as Vonage and others.

At any rate, if you want just the traditional phone service, Qwest would be your provider in Issaquah.

I'm not an expert at this stuff so anybody is free to correct any mis-statements I might have made.

Thanks.

In Issaquah, we had Qwest. That was about 4ish yrs ago, and I am not sure if that's changed. I am sure you can get Comcast there though, because that's who the cable provider is.

In Bothell we had Verizon, till we switched to Comcast.

We live in Issaquah and we have Qwest. They carry our home phone, internet, and directv. For all 3 we pay around $130.00 a month.
