You're best off waiting until next June to move. If you move in the next month, by the time you get here it will be the Gloomy Drizzle season.

No, disagree. You should get through a winter FIRST, followed by a classic Seattle summer, then you will be much better able to decide if it is right for you.

It sounds like moving from Philadelphia to Seattle can be a great and exciting change in your life!

I moved from New York City to Seattle one year and 7 months ago and enjoyed the move and I did this at age 19 (now I am age 20 because it is one year and 7 months later).

Seattle has a great urban meets nature vibe. Philadelphia may be more urban in some ways but Seattle has enough urbanity in my opinion. I like Philadelphia but I like Seattle more overall. I think I like New York City and Seattle equally at this point.

Also, Seattle has a much lower crime rate than Philadelphia. Like someone already mentioned Seattle had like 295 less homicides than Philadelphia so far this year, so I think this makes Philadelphia have a crime rate at the very least 5 times higher than Seattle’s crime rate.

However, there are some neighborhoods in Philadelphia that are not affected by crime like Society Hill, Rittenhouse Square, and Center City and it seems like those neighborhoods mostly avoid crime problems etc. Despite that, it seems like a big chunk of Philadelphia still has crime problems. My guess is 20% of Philly is low crime/safe and 70% of Philly city limits has crime problems. Philly seems to have many more crime filled neighborhoods than Seattle. I would say 90% of Seattle city limits is safe/low crime, and 10% of Seattle city limits has some crime problems.

There are plenty of things to like about Seattle overall.

How much are you willing to spend per month for an apartment/room in Seattle?

Do you have any other questions Ghostwriterz about Seattle?

Despite a couple of remarks here about Seattle winters I will take winters in Seatttle over any winter in the n.e. I lived in them back there and did not like them at all.
