I am a 24 year old college grad with 6 years of music experience/playing/gigs/whatever and I just moved to Seattle two weeks ago. I write all my own music and play acoustic/folk style stuff.

Here's the thing.

I'm basically sick of playing by myself. I want to harmonize with people. I want to collab with people. I want it ALL.

So I'm looking to gather some serious musicians to create a lovely folkish-deal band thing. Or seriously just play around and see what happens, screw genres.

If you can't find someone... then you need to pick up a copy of The Stranger and look at their ads.

Ha, actually already have one taker. But a friend told me The Stranger is a mostly pornographic document. I don't know what to make of this.

Your friend is very funny. LOL.

No, it's a local weekly news alternative source. Dan Savage is pretty well-linked to this paper... he's a funny guy. You can check their online website if you can't get to the paper copy. It actually lets you know of the going ons, and events, et. c.

The Stranger has a page of personals in the back and some 'gentlemens' clubs do take out ads, but that's all the 'porn' in it. I like it because it has an exhaustive listing of almost any kind of entertainment in the city from theatre to music. Last week's even had the most refreshing opera review I've ever read (might have been the week before). In addition to providing a take on local news that I think even our local papers like the Times and PI are missing, they review all kinds of music and I like their writers. If you want to know alllll the bands that will be here within the next three months, from Key area and the Tacoma Dome to the Tractor Tavern - it will be in the Stranger.

But don't take my word for it anymore than you should take anyone else's. However at least pick one up and form your own opinion.

Wow, thanks for all the input guys. I've had at least 6 people contact me today. I'll definitely look into The Stranger too.
