We relocated here from NC last July in hopes that my husband could find a job. He has been working in IT for 16 years with the same company, but things are declining quickly and he needs to find a new employer (he is still employed and telecommutes full time). In the 1.5 years prior to us moving, he was interviewed locally by Amazon & Microsoft (twice each) and was getting 4-5 phone calls a week from interested companies like Apple and Google. He ended up getting a job offer from Amazon in early summer last year, but it was a 20K pay cut over his current job, which we tried to negotiate unsuccessfully (we literally never heard back from Amazon after we countered, despite repeated attempts to get ahold of them). We figured that moving to the area might make him more attractive as a prospective employee, since the company wouldn't have to worry about relocation. So we packed up and moved here, thinking it would be easy to get a job.

Since moving, the interest has pretty much come to a screeching halt DH is submitting multiple applications per day, and hasn't gotten even one interview. I am wondering if being local is hurting instead of helping. Maybe the job market is slow? Any ideas? Are there any headhunters locally he can connect with to help him find a job? TIA!
