It was once on Highway 99, but the remnants have been moved.

I totally remember the Hat N' Boots. I think I even bought gas there. And now it's been completely restored, moved a few blocks away to a small park in the Georgetown neighborhood, where it fits in perfectly well with all the other quirkiness going on there. The Hat N' Boots is one of the best structures in Seattle. The city has lost a lot it's kitschy past. I was heartbroken when the Twin Teepees burnt down.

I try to stop by every time I drive through the neighborhood. I'm not happy with what it's become, granted, I am not able to tell you what I'm not happy with it. Perhaps it's just the nostalgia, or the sadness at what has been lost.

I read on the internet that the Twin Teepees were demolished.

My recollection was that there was a fire and it did a lot of smoke damage inside but the outside wasn't damaged that badly. The owner at the time determined that it would cost too much to repair so the building was demolished instead of being rehabilitated.

It didn't seem too long ago ...I want to say maybe 2002?

I think I remember that. Or maybe I've seen photos. There used to be a Teepee gas station or restaurant, or something, wasn't there? Is that still there?

It was the Twin Teepees restaurant on Aurora and 70 something?. Hat and Boots was south, not far from Boeing on Marginal Way.

Twin Teepees was the last structure on Aurora heading South until you got past Woodland Park. It's now a generic, mostly empty retail/apartment structure.

At least Beth's is still right up the street, inexplicably drawing huge crowds every weekend in an ugly building.

I saw it several times passing by with grass and vegetation growing around it, never seen it in action.
