Vivace, Café Vita, Victrola, and Seattle Coffee Works are all terrific.

I personally like Zoka's in Green Lake. Not the expansion sites, they have spotty consistency. And where else can you say its ok to buy a coffee in one place then cross the street for a donut and nobody cares?

Vita and Victrola are good too. If you're out near the Golden Gardens beach then go up the hill to Fiore. Awesome vegan treats there too.

Ballard coffee co is good too.

For me, a coffee shop is no good unless it offers French press, pour-over, or other single cup brewing methods. Coffee shops that roast their own beans get the edge because they can use fresh coffee beans (roasted within the last two weeks). There are a few in Seattle that do this well - Victrola, Zoka, Caffe Vita, and Caffe Fiore are my personal favorites.

I completely forgot the north end!

There's one place called Spotted Cow Ice Cream & Coffee. Bit of a misnomer as they sell gelato, NOT ice cream, but hey that's fine! They do pour overs, french presses, even the cold brew Japanese method. Whenever I find myself in that area, I always go there. They roast on-site.

Another place is the Red Door cafe. They make a bright, strong cup, they stop the roast earlier than people in the PNW traditionally like it, but still really good.

Finally, don't forget the Mukilteo Coffee Roasting CO., headquarters on Whidbey Island hey they started in Mukilteo then moved out there, so it's OK. They only have teh coffeehouse attached to the roasting factory, but man, the aura there is properly good and so is the coffee and espresso. The other island coffee joints are pretty good too, no shortage of good coffee on Whidbey.

If you want to try a new coffeeshop that has amazing coffee, try Ada's Book store/Coffeeshop that serves Seattle's best roaster (IMO) Kuma coffee. It is a new technical book store located on 15th Ave in Capitol Hill. I had some coffee there today that blew my mind. Be aware, all their coffee is made to order, so you will have to order a pour-over or Americano and wait a bit, but it is worth it. It's also not super cheap.
