The biggest thing to worry about in these areas are property crimes, like car break-ins. Violent crime is not a huge concern anywhere around here -- not that it doesn't exist, but it's not epidemic. That said, Burien, SeaTac, or Tukwila, close to the light rail, would be the place to look.

Good luck with the homsechooling. I'm planning to do the same with my 2-year-old when the time comes. Would love to hear how it works out for you once you get here.

Check out Normandy Park too! It's in the Burien area, but generally a nicer/safer area. Housing costs are slightly more, but it's a pretty good area.
