P.S. We walked all the way from Lincoln Park to Alki beach a couple of Sundays ago, gorgeous Puget sound waterfront, and in that 7 or 8 miles there was not one single commercial enterprise. Not so much as a popsicle stand. I would have liked a coke--but no--zoning residential only. I think not allowing a (tasteful) mix of housing and convenient retail is a mistake.

Highland Park is the Southeastern part of West Seattle, from the city limits on the South ( Roxbury St?) up about a mile and between around 4th Ave SW and 16th Ave SW.

Correction, most of us like sunshine when it isn't threatening to give you heat stroke like it is Phoenix 6 months out of the year. No offense but I don't know what the appeal of Phoenix is, I honestly don't. Actually, there is no water rationing. Phoenicians use water freely. While they SHOULD be more careful with their water supply, they don't have to worry the same way Southern Californians do.
