The wife and I would actually like to live someplace with weather and we are also outdoors types that do a lot of hiking and camping so the nature outside the city in Seattle interests us. I'm also a road cyclist so I would probably miss the fact that I can ride like 360 days a year in Socal without rain but I can adjust on that front
Yeah! I don't tell anyone, nor do I consider myself a transplant from California anymore.

I am a Seattleite.

Getting through downtown can be an issue, whether by car or bus. Light rail opening to the Montlake/Husky Stadium in early 2016 will significantly expand your choices. See the //www.city-data.com/forum/seatt...t-changes.html thread for details.

Looking south, I'd look at areas with access to either light rail (Beacon Hill, Mount Baker, Columbia City, Othello, etc.) or to Sounder commuter rail (Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, etc.), both of which will drop you off or pick you up very close to the stadiums.

Thanks again everyone. I'm on to round two of phone interviews next week so hopefully I will have a reason to look more seriously about where we would want to live in the near future
