I'm going to be travelling out to Seattle for business and am looking for somewhere interesting to go for a hike or trail run. I'm looking for something unpaved where I can do 3-5 miles with a bit of scenery/nature. Ideally close-ish to Puyallup, but I'm relatively flexible.

Thanks.

Here is a great resource for our area:

Hike Finder Map

You could access something closer to Rainier, but I don't know the conditions of the trails this time of year (of course you haven't specified when you are coming...).

If you look at the map you'll see that north (and a bit east) there is a cluster of trails before you hit the foothills of Snoqualmie. Those trail clusters are in Issaquah, where I live.. mostly on Tradition Plateau/Tiger Mt, Cougar and Squak Mts. They are very, very popular for serious trail runners because you can get the distance, are very much in nature and they're easily accessible. I can't say I favor one over the other, but if you do Tiger you can get a good view from Poo Poo Point. Well, maybe... it depends on the weather...

This will be in a few weeks, mid-January.

That's a cool little map, thanks.

Edit: I'm thinking this one and maybe I'll do the steep one up and down, then a bit of the gentle one if I have time/want more.

Mount Peak (Pinnacle Peak)
I've done Mt. Pete. Parts can get muddy, and parts are pretty steep. But on a nice day, the views of Mt. Rainier from the top are just grand.
