Everett has some nice areas but also has alot of sketchier areas. Your opinion of a good place to live may be different then mine but I wouldn't want to live in Everett. The commute? If you're commuting during am/pm rush hour, it could easily be up to an hour each way.

There are some express buses from Everett to downtown Seattle...it's about 28-30 miles and rush hour traffic can be brutal...But home prices are a lot lower in Everett, the downtown Everett area is improving, and there are some very nice homes with nice views.

I would not pick Everett myself especially if I had children. Their are alot better places closer with a better commute.

I agree completely and would also add Lake Forest Park and Brier to that list. The transit station in the North Seattle Suburbs are pretty great!
