Got this mailer from the Manka camp.

Manka is the dem running for district 45 in WA which will determine the fate of our state senate. BIG OIL from another state is sticking its nose in a funding a smear campaign. to scare swing voters in to voting for the FAKE independent ( the Rs are funding and supports a fake independent they moved into the district )

Quote:
It didn't take long for outside special interests to try and influence our local race.

Phillips 66, an oil company based in Texas, has given $100,000 to a special interest group that’s relentlessly attacking us.

We could be worried -- or scared -- but this donation only proves how much big corporations are willing to spend to see us lose, and it makes me want to fight that much harder to win.

This election is our chance to prove that our state is not for sale to special interests.

The special interests know they will get fewer tax breaks if this grassroots campaign succeeds. Unlike my opponent, they know I'll prioritize working families, small businesses and children to ensure we fund our schools, protect our environment, and make our communities stronger.

It's moments like these that will decide whether or not we will flip the 45th. Join me in raising $120,000 one person at a time.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm traveling but will vote when I get back. I'm so tired of Texas and now Texas involved in Washington State elections? I don't even like seeing their license plates on our local highways. The thought of even more Republicans is sickening. They control all three branches federal government. Stop the madness before we become a banana republic.

I welcome newcomers, personally. But it's definitely a case of evil trying to influence an election, with the goal of oil profits.

I'm sure you both voted against I-594 then, since it got a million dollars from a New Yorker right? Wouldn't want to be hypocrites or anything.

Not to worry... won't happen...
most of us (36 of 39 WA counties) have been sequested by the left for many MANY yrs.

Probably have had 3 things I voted for actually pass in the last 35 yrs.

Did they do it to subvert environmental laws? I don't know what issue you're talking about but if they tried to screw us up for their own profit, the same would apply.

As for how I vote, I vote based on the topic, not based on who funds it. Though I look very critically at dishonest campaigns.

The Constitution?

Both parties are often guilty of stomping all over it when it fits their agenda, but the left seems especially good at it.

King County's Eastside used to be all red, but is now all blue, except for the 45th. Dems are banking on flipping it, which is why they caved on the budget deal - with control of the Senate, they can rewrite it. Outside money, especially Texas oil money, can backfire.
