So, back to the Seattle side. Where do you live and where can you walk?

Sweet, thanks for the info. We love suburbia also, as long as it's walkable The ideal scenario for us is probably some quiet house away from all the downtown noise, but still with the ability to walk to downtown or something similar (cute streets sprinkled with cafes, micro breweries, parks or whatnot). If it takes 1 mile of walking to get there, we are absolutely down to it as long as there are sidewalks.
We've seen prices in Bellevue and around, it's more or less in acceptavle range for us. We are both software engineers so it's doable for us and plus after NYC our bar is set extremely low anyway

Why are you persistently asking? I would think you would know it all by now.

My former landlady lived in a nice, quiet neighborhood just north of downtown Bellevue, I think around NE 12th or NE 13th St. and 108th Ave. Very walkable to some areas like Cafe Cesura. If we lived there we would be able to do Bellevue Square/Lincoln Square just fine.

saucermom, my perceptions of neighborhoods (especially ones where I don't live) are different than the people who actually live there. I'm sure someone out there would benefit from that "local knowledge" each person can offer. Happy Friday!

Son lives near crest of the hill. Yesler/Jackson & 23rd. Once you get to the top, it's fairly flat. Then it's all downhill to Mt. Baker/Leschi, Rainier, ID. Catch the FirstHill Streetcar to go up or down. #48 bus on 23 ave will get get you to Udub

That was a terrible neighborhood, when I lived in Seattle. Infrequent bus service at night, too. It was ok if you lived near the #48.

I guess times change.

Ruth, you should come back and visit. Those areas are a lot different now.

Super walkable: Belltown, Capitol Hill, First Hill, Lower Queen Anne, U District, Ballard, Fremont. Add North Beacon Hill and Little Saigon to the "walkable" list.
