"Becomes"? Seattle is already radically leftist.

OP, it's a monoculture. Anyone who tells you otherwise is delusional and part of that monoculture. Diversity of thought is not only not practiced here, it's openly reviled and assaulted. There will be no equilibrium, there will be no balancing out - the inmates are running the asylum.

It was one of the biggest reasons we moved OUT of the Seattle area (as the quote above mentioned, the east side has a more libertarian streak, but not enough to fight against the never-ending shriek of far-leftist raging). To LA.

Think about that for a moment - we moved to LOS ANGELES to find a more politically diverse way of life that is further towards the middle. And the needle moved a pretty goodly way, which is saying something because this isn't exactly a centrist location, either.

Huh? You call that practicality? Durkan and Moon were fundamentally the same candidate - they both ran on a campaign of "I'm more progressive than my opponent". They weren't moderate by any means - their whole platforms were literally which one was more left than the other. Watching that crapfest from afar was really entertaining.

Democrats don't give your money to "the people." They give it to their cronies, same as the Republicans.

Whose culture is more leftist? Seattle or Portland?

Nope xanathos. Durkan strategically ran as more leftist than she really is. She is very business friendly and quite reasonable, which is why the business community supported her.

That's like saying that if you gave conservatives a choice between Sawant and Lizzy Warren, they'd give their money to Warren. Those 2 were exact clones of one another, with the only difference being that Durkan could put together a coherent sentence and didn't always resort to her precious feelz any time someone challenged her with a question (which wasn't often).

You're talking about a city where anyone with an (R) next to their name will NEVER win, no matter how moderate or successful or sane they are. These two clowns were doing the #MeToo campaign before it was fashionable, except they were MeTooing whatever the most granola answer could possibly be (oh, and talking up hating Trump). You and others are trying to argue that Seattle's not just rabid left and using the latest in a series of elections where only one party even bothers to show up and 3rd parties just move away unless they're part of the socialist party.

Like, I know you think you and some of the others are successfully arguing against the claim of a monoculture, but I promise you, that's not what's happening here. Durkan was, and is, nothing but Ed Murray without the sick predisposition towards diddling young boys. Not that I think people in that city would care even if she was. That place has 5 protests a day, elected an f'ing child molester and when it got found out not a single placard was raised denouncing it. Matter of fact, it was total radio silence in favor of screaming about Trump's ICE crackdown from what I read. Maybe she can pardon some more Tofurkey for Thanksgiving this year.

Jerry Sandusky would win an election up there from within the walls of his prison if he ran as a Democrat and went up against anyone who dared call themselves a Republican.

You are making light of the #MeToo campaign? That's cold, we're done chatting.

Uhh, we've been done - I'm just getting people such as yourself to provide living proof of the example of how Seattle is only for fringe ideologues.

Hope you remembered to wear all black on Golden Globes night, it was a great virtue signaling opportunity, though not such a great deal for you since you didn't decide to wait until Hollywood had paid you millions upon millions of dollars and you had allowed countless other women to be abused because you valued money more than morals, and only decided to take up the mantle once it became fashionable to do so and you were already rich. Maybe you can cheer Hollywood on as they give Roman Polanski another award for raping people or talking up how awesome Oprah is after decades of turning a blind eye to her buddy's behaviors. Of course Seattlites would be all-in on that thing - yet another "cause" they can take up without actually doing anything other than letting everybody know how much they support it in order to raise their own status profiles. Ironic - Hollywood is literally almost down the street and the only people down here who are cheering the actors on are the actors themselves - the locals largely understand and recognize the hypocrisy if any of the comments within the LA Times or otherwise are to be believed.
