Ohkaaay, they're 'Mussels' - and I exaggerated about the "addicted" part. But Oxy has been found in the tiny creatures. And the fish are feared to be even more seriously impacted by the druggy waters of the Sound. Scientists mussels testing positive for oxycodone | Daily Mail Online

No wonder the cleaning crews, landscaping crews, property management teams, maintenance resources, and trash-out subs for my Seattle-area properties are so problematic. All I hear about, is staffing problems. Drugs... drugs... everywhere, drugs...

Mussels, are not clams. To say "exaggerated", implies there's a degree of clam which is not true.

Drugs are a huge problem in Seattle but also in entire US. In 2016 alone 63632 people died as direct consequence of drug overdose in United States (CDC). Many more as indirect consequence of driving high, shooting a gun high, pulling a knife etc.

To put this into perspective:

Vietnam war claimed 58220 allied casualties.

Korean war 33662 US casualties.

Entire WW1 claimed 53402 US combat casualties.

Drugs are the single biggest threat to our way of life that has ever attacked us on our soil. Downtown Seattle is a glimpse of that. Anyone promoting drug use liberalization like Ethan Nadelmann, Aryeh Neier, Lindesmith Center, Open Society Foundation, Kevin Zeese etc should be views as people having potential to destroy the Republic.

(emphasis added)

quite literally so, when one considers that democracy requires a populace with clear minds.

I remember he ran advertisements in NYT (disguised as opinion pieces) late 90's, about how global war on drugs is causing more harm vs drug use, which we were supposed to believe is harmless.

I don't think anyone propagating liberalization of drug use back then had an intent to harm society. More like they were people in positions of great power and they were clueless about addiction. Dangerous combination.

People blame George Soros for everything. But the mussels containing oxycodone? They were mussels they moved from the Whidbey island mussel farm to other parts of Puget Sound. Then a few months later they were found to have oxycodone thousands of times smaller than a dose of oxycodone. if you buy mussels from a store, they will be farmed mussels with no oxycodone. On the other hand, I had some the other day, and I'm feeling strangely calm.

How do they know they're "overly happy"? Did they poll them, or test them in a lab, somehow? Study their nervous systems, such as they may be?

Well of course they're happy. They're clams. You've heard the expression "happy as a clam".
I'm not sure I'd be happy getting steamed and eaten.

I got to switch from Oregon clams (cockles) to Sound clams/mussels. I caught 21 clams in Oregon, and 3 days finished them off. I got a severe case of gout for my efforts, which I am still paying for 3 years later
